Army student veterans pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university may apply with the following qualifications: A U.S. Army veteran. Entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of undergraduate study, or be enrolled in a graduate program for the current academic year. Attending full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. Demonstrate a commitment to and passion for their chosen field of study. Demonstrate leadership and engagement in their community. Be a current student veteran (includes members of the National Guard or Reserve), as demonstrated by a DD 214 and current transcript. Have received an honorable discharge; must be a veteran in good standing.

The Children of Veterans Tuition Grant (CVTG) was previously called Education of Children of Veterans, Public Act 245 of 1935 and was administered and funded by the Michigan Trust Fund. In 2005, CVTG was established under Public Act 248 to provide an undergraduate tuition program for children of certain deceased or disabled members of the armed forces of the United States. The program is designed to provide undergraduate tuition assistance to certain children older than 16 and less than 26 years of age who have been Michigan residents for the 12 months prior to application. To be eligible, a student must be the natural or adopted child of a Michigan veteran. Stepchildren of the veteran are not eligible. The veteran must have been a legal resident of Michigan immediately before entering military service and must not have later resided outside of Michigan for more than two years; or the veteran must have established legal residency in Michigan after entering military service.

Applicants must be full-time students who are Military Veterans or dependents of deceased Military Veterans who served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) within the central command area of responsibility. Must be a California resident attending a University, College or trade institution and a veteran of the United States Armed Forces (including US Coast Guard) who has served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) within the central command area of responsibility. Applications will also be accepted from dependents of personnel who have been killed in action or incurred disabilities, that are noted in their DD Form 214 as 75% or more, in the above-mentioned campaigns. Applicants who are awarded a scholarship are eligible for an additional scholarship each year if they attain at least a 3.0 gpa and submit documentation that they are enrolled for another year. An applicant can not be awarded more than four annual scholarships.
