The Peggy Rudd Transgender Scholarship Fund was created to recognize outstanding transgender students and to contribute toward their continuing education. The members of HTUC recognize that in many cases members of the transgender community must work harder harder to reach higher education goals than others, and we feel that these individuals are worthy of our support. Scholarship Description Each year HTUC awards one or more college scholarships to students associated with the transgender community. The scholarships are typically $1000 but may be for different amounts at the discretion of the committee. Students chosen must demonstrate that they can maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA out of 4.0.

The Sandy Schenker Capell scholarship was created to honor Sandy and her commitment to mentoring and developing young talent. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a Houston area High School Senior interested in a career in media. The scholarship will be managed and funds raised by the Media Alliance of Houston. 1. Student must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate ornamental horticulture program or related discipline at a four-year institution, must be currently enrolled in good standing and must carry a full-time compliment of courses at time of application and during the semester the scholarship is granted. 2. Also, student must be in a junior or senior standing at time of application in a four-year curriculum (having completed the first two years and at least two horticulture courses) or a graduate student standing in a horticultural masters or doctoral program. 3. Student must be a resident of one of the 16 SNA states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia) although attendance at an institution within these states is not mandatory. The student must be a citizen of the U.S. 4. For the most recent two years (four years for graduate students), a minimum grade point average of 2.75, based on a scale of 4.0, is required for undergraduate students or 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 for graduate students. 5. Preference will be given to those applicants who plan to work in any aspect of the industry (including owning their own business) following graduation and those in financial need. 6. Previous scholarship recipients may reapply; however, each is limited to a maximum of 2 scholarship awards.

Thomas M. Droke established The Lillian Cooper Droke Memorial Scholarship in memory of his grandmother. This scholarship is awarded to a student who is enrolled in college or technical training and who has been diagnosed with a mental illness. Other students pursuing a career in the mental health field may also be considered if no eligible mental health consumer applies.

The Texas Six Man Coaches Association annually awards scholarships to TSMCA All-Star participants. In 2022, we were able to award more than $20,000 in scholarships to All-Star participants. These scholarships are available to any All-Star participant and is payable of fees from a college, university, or technical school upon receipt of proof of registration.
