The ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarship is awarded to professionals in the chemistry field pursuing new careers as high school chemistry teachers. Scholarship recipients receive: Scholarship stipends (up to $6,000 for full-time study or up to $3,000 for part-time study) towards the completion of a Masters degree in education or secondary chemistry/science certification. Support and mentoring throughout their three year teaching commitment. The scholarship can be applied to tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses and are renewable up to 3 years. Scholarships cannot be applied to expenses retroactively. To be eligible, you must: Have a Bachelors degree or higher in chemistry or chemistry-related discipline. Have at least one year work experience in a chemistry-related profession. WiNUP currently has three fellowships available annually to females pursuing advanced degrees (beyond a bachelor's degree), which will lead to careers in the utility industry or allied fields. Relevant fields must relate to a career in a utility related profession such as engineering, business administration, accounting, environmental sciences, communication, information technologies, and so on. The applicant must be accepted to a regionally or nationally accredited university.

This year's scholarship is dedicated to the advancement of rare and chronic diseases, either through research, patient advocacy, raising awareness, or community building. The program will award four students with a $5,000 scholarship each. OrchidsMadeEasy.com offers an annual orchid care scholarship to a qualified undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a program in Botany, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Conservation, or related field, with a focus on orchids. The purpose of the scholarship is to advance the study of orchids and orchid care. Topics can include, but not limited to: researching orchids in their native habitats, increasing biodiversity, or aiding in conservation efforts. Applicants must be individual persons who (a) will be a legal resident of the 50 U.S. states or District of Columbia as of August 2; (b) will be age 18 or older as of August 2; (c) are enrolled as a Graduate Student, or Undergraduate Student at an accredited U.S. college or university (see U.S. Dept. of Education Database at https://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) for Fall; and (d) have a declared major of biology, chemistry, bio-chemistry or a related life science field. This program is unique as the IDB scholarship is a grant from the IDB to the Muslim community and is offered as an interest-free loan to the students, to be refunded in easy installments, for the future use of other needy students in the community. Five scholarships of $15,000 each year for four years will be awarded to Muslim students in the fields of any Medicine group (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine), or Engineering group (all Engineering fields including Computer and Communications Engineering), Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Food Technology based on merit, academic achievement, and demonstrated financial need. ELIGIBILITY: High school diploma or G.E.D. with strong grades in Language (English or French) and Science subjects Demonstrated financial need and inability to pay education expenses Not in receipt of any other scholarship Must be willing to repay the loan (in easy installments) to a local Education Trust or registered body/organization in the country named by the IDB after the completion of their studies and gainful employment.
